Lightning is a weapon in Neo Contra.

Description

The Lightning weapon is a primary weapon. It can fire a long-range bolt of lightning straight ahead. Enemies hit by this bright turquoise lightning bolt will cause the bolt to chain to another nearby target, striking them simultaneously. This weapon isn't capable of rapid-fire and takes at least one second between firing intervals to reload fire.

Trivia

• In Contra, lightning acts as an obstacle during Tunnel stages. Appearing in front of a main room, the horizontal wall of electricity blocks the heroes from advancing until they eliminate the room's core(s). Anyone running forward while the lightning field is active will cause that person to be non-lethally electrocuted with their arm raised in the air, temporarily paralyzing their movement and leaving them vulnerable to enemy attack.
