Hit Rate is a gameplay element introduced and exclusive to the PlayStation 2 titles, Contra: Shattered Soldier and Neo Contra.

Description

The Hit Rate is a mechanic used to determine a player's overall ranking. Ranking is also introduced as well, both of which will overall determine how far the player will reach toward the end of the game, the game's ending they will receive, and what unlockables they will unlock (if any remaining).

Within all stages of gameplay, Hit Rate will be present. A Hit Rate counter is present in the top-center of the screen, with players always starting each stage with 0%. Each enemy or boss will harbor a certain number of Hit Rate percentage that when eliminated, will add to the overall Hit Rate score. However certain weak enemies, such as the common infinitely respawning enemies (like as Zako troops and Buggers) will not add to the Hit Rate, possessing 0% when defeated (possibly to prevent farming), though they still grant Score, which is completely separate from Hit Rate.

Due to certain stage layouts, levels with a majority of boss fights may always grant a 100% Hit Rate score. The following stages apply:
