- Not to be confused with Dumpling Bug Alien.
The Dumpling is a recurring enemy in the Contra series.
Description
A rather large pill bug that curls into a ball to move around and extends its body to fire a spew of small harmful energy bullets. These creatures tend to be under the control of a certain terrorist organization.
Appearances
Contra: Hard Corps
Encountered shortly after defeating Miyao Kappa. The player has to deal with a gauntlet of Dumplings as they travel along the neck of a dinosaur. These mutated insects displace themselves by curling into a ball and rolling around. If given the opportunity, they will eventually uncurl, stand right up and spew a long stream of bright yellow bullets, before repositioning themselves to the opposite side of the screen to repeat their attack pattern. There are six in total and each possesses 5 HP. By carefully manipulating the screen's movement, it is possible for two of the creatures to fall out of bounds, sparing a fight with the fallen ones while only dealing with the remaining four.
If Fight to the end is chosen, Dumplings are encountered once again, but this time being seen inside the Monster Genesis Machine, used as an ingredient for Doctor Geo Mandrake's mad experiments.
Contra Returns
Dumplings appear as a controlled robot. As far as behavior goes, Dumpling robots appear to have a near-identical manner as their previous counterparts, though their bullets are red this time around. These enemies appear to be under the command of Bahamut (being sent in by his associate Deadeye Joe) as these creatures were not present during prior trips to the Galuga Archipelago during Red Falcon's presence.
