contra

Contra Burst is a rail shooter ticket redemption arcade video game by Konami released on May 16, 2025 exclusively in the United States.[1] It is a spin-off of Contra: Operation Galuga.

Plot

Contra Burst is a spin-off of the events in Contra: Operation Galuga. It follows a similar plot and reuses the same engine and various of its assets.

Gameplay

Contra Burst is a rail shooter video redemption ("videmption") arcade game where players win increasing amounts of tickets depending on how much they score. The game is played through the use of two light guns mounted on the cabinet and it supports up to four players. Players advance through three main levels and face a boss bonus stage at the end, where a jackpot of 500 can be earned if defeated.[2]

The cabinet counts with two monitors, a main large one where all the light gun action takes place, and a smaller one below it which displays different types of information, like a map showing the player's current location, the current mission's intel (objectives, enemy and boss information, etc.), and diverse gameplay instructions. Depending on the players' score, a bonus level can be accessed at the end where many classic bosses from the Contra series can be fought.

The game also counts with a leaderboard/high score ranking system, and does not feature any e-Amusement network functionality.[3]

Development

Contra Burst is a conversion kit of Bomberman: The Medal. The game first underwent a testing period at Round1USA's flagship Puente Hills Mall location,[2] and new units were slowly distributed on the rest of their venues.[3] The game was officially released on May 16, 2025 exclusively in the United States.[1]
